When a swede searches the internet for "Tosca Cake" he will find that the Tosca Cake reached Swedish homes during the beginning of the 20th century, and it is believed that the cake got it's name from the famous opera Tosca by Puccini.

With a type of Sponge Cake base and a glaze of sugar, butter, almonds and milk this cake brings immediate pleasure to most people who tries it.

This particular type of glaze has a bit of a oriental origin, but you could also find it in Switzerland during the middle of the 19th century, even though the original version contains cream instead of milk.
